New Features & Content - May 2021
Over the last couple of months we’ve released tonnes of new features and content. We've had a great focus on updating the game engine to give a more satisfying gaming experience. We've revamped the whole core skills drills which you can find in the All Drills area and we've upgraded the UI in the user created drills and playlist browser.
It's our goal to make everything crisper, better looking and more efficient - giving you the best experience possible.
Game Look & Feel
Josh has been smashing out loads of amazing improvements to the look and feel. We want these to be subtle so they don’t distract from the core functionality of aim training, but we hope all these add up to a great overall feel and give the game some juice.
- Target despawn / destruction effects - You’ve got 4 options to choose from here. Some shader magic!
- Gun sway - just a subtle animation when you’re aiming
- Muzzle flash - this was desperately in need of an update!
- Bullet impact effects - helloooo particle system.
- Custom sounds - load up your own sound effects! (This was Ben’s work - thank you!)
- Movement physics - on the peek drills which involve strafing you’ll now feel some physics so you need to counter-strafe to stop dead. Practice your CS mechanics with this!
Josh also refactored a whole load of stuff which has made it much easier to add customisation options for EVERYTHING. All these new features have options to tweak or remove and we’ve added a few for existing features as well.
Core Skills
Jason has completely recreated the whole core skills areas. This is the area in ‘Drills’ where you’ll find some really nicely structured drills, each with an incremental difficulty and fixed goals. This will allow you to find your limit and then push through it. Each drill has three challenging goals to achieve and we just implemented a 4th ‘red’ goal which is super mega difficult, only for the players who are on another level.
This is an amazing area to build up your aim skills in a structured fashion. You can read more about these here
Drills & Playlists UI
Cristian reworked the user created drills UI. Previously these were cards, which just weren’t efficient for browsing. Now it’s a table and it’s super cool.
So cool in fact, I copied it and used it to revamp the playlist UI. Check it out here
On the Backend
We've made a whole load of changes which you might never see, but someone somewhere will! Josh has put a good chunk of work into optimising the game loading process to smooth things out there. As a little bonus he's made it so you can hold shoot while the countdown is on - this will help for players looking for top scores and wanting to get maximum shots per drill.
That's all for now
We've got loads more super features and improvements in the pipeline. And as always we love to hear what new features the community wants, so let us know on Discord!
