Updates to Game Backend
We’ve been working hard on the game code in preparation for some features that you’ll be seeing in the near future. An offshoot from that is that we have just pushed live an update which has quite a few bits and bobs that you won’t see, but several things that you may see!
Improved Game Starting Experience
Previously the game started as the countdown began and a mysterious black screen covered the view. This wasn’t pretty visually or in the code but worse than that it also led to the annoying issue where once the screen was revealed you’d often see a target that was just about to despawn.
We’ve cleaned this up, so hopefully you’ll have a much better game start experience.
Improving Frame Rate
We’ve always strived to give great frame rate to make the game as accessible as possible. We noticed that targets spawning and despawning caused a performance hit so we took a look at this and optimised the process a little, a side effect of this was that we decided to change the kill / despawn colours a little - lovely stuff!
Off Screen Spawn Notification
We’ve created a small on screen indication if a target spawns out of sight. Very useful for some of the arm aiming games & target frenzy!
Target Movement Code
We added some extra functionality in the target movement code as part of our intriguing plans. While doing so we noticed bug which was probably causing a performance hit. We’ve fixed this and changed some fundamental areas in the code.
We’ve tried to ensure there is no change to our existing games, however it’s possible things like jump frequency has changed very slightly.
What does it all mean
In summary you should see a better starting experience, better frame rate and slightly better visuals. More so than that we have some cool new features in the works. So be assured we are working hard and if you stick with us you should see more great aim training features very soon. You may need to perform a full refresh (Shift / Ctrl + F5) to see these improvements.
