New Drill Creator Launch
We’re delighted to announce a completely rewritten drill creator! This new drill creator makes it easier than ever to construct any aiming scenario you can imagine.

True Editor Functionality
Our first goal with the new drill creator was to make it easier to use. Previously, trying out different settings was time-consuming because you had to edit a value, load into the game, see how it felt, and then back out to the settings to adjust again. These three powerful features have streamlined the creative process:
- A New 3D View - You can now instantly preview changes while you’re editing the drill’s settings, letting you see in real time what each setting does.
- Undo/Redo - You can undo and redo any changes you’ve made to a drill during the same editing session. If you make a mistake or don’t like what you’ve done, you can go back to a previous version of the drill.
- Copy/Paste - You can copy and paste entire sections of drill settings from your other drills. This means you can easily reuse spawning settings, target settings, target movements, weapon settings and dynamic actions between your drills without having to set them up manually.
New Drill Settings
Our next goal with the drill creator was to add new settings while still keeping things as simple as possible. We want to keep Aiming.Pro’s drill settings intuitive for new users while simultaneously making them more flexible.
- Place spawning areas anywhere you want - maps used to come with locked player spawn positions and locked enemy spawn positions. We have introduced “volumes” which are cuboids in 3D space that can be assigned as player spawn points, target spawn points, or target movement areas.
- Create an empty map of any size - previously you were limited to specific sizes of empty cube maps but now you can easily change it to any width, height and depth you want.
- Weighted random - any value that was previously a random range now supports a weighted table of numbers. For example, instead of target sizes being any value between 1-5, you can now choose to generate size 1 with 30% probability and size 5 with 70% probability.
- Time between targets can now be a random value.
- Weapons can now have a custom damage curve. Weapon damage can be set to fall off at specified distances.
- More advanced target spawning settings - you can now customise how the target spawning system picks volumes and there are new relative spawning modes that give you more control over how targets spawn relative to previous spawn positions.
- More advanced target movement settings - the movement algorithm still uses the X-Y-Z axis style movement but we have unlocked some new settings to tune it.
- Added some more player movement settings like the ability to jump.
- You can now customise the location of the “return to centre” sphere.
Publishing drills
We’ve introduced a new system called drill publishing. While you’re creating a drill, it will be in “draft mode” where plays won’t count towards the drill’s leaderboard. When you’re happy with what you’ve made, publish the drill to lock its settings and open its leaderboard.
Legacy drills
Drills that were created with the old drill creator have the “legacy” tag next to them in your drill library. These drills will continue to be playable but can only be edited in the old drill creator. We may consider adding an option to convert these drills to the new drill creator in the future.
Note that drills made using the new drill creator aren’t compatible with the legacy engine.
