Click Timing
Click timing is the skill of hitting your target with a single click. Timing your shot just right so the target is directly in your crosshair. This applies in your pistol duels, your first pinpoint accurate shots with the semi automatic rifle and your single shot sniper rifle.
Click Timing is a fundamental aiming skill which will benefit all players in all games. It is especially important in any FPS which rewards high accuracy and headshots e.g. CS:GO and Valorant.
In the aim training world Click Timing is split into Static (non-moving targets) and Dynamic (moving targets).
Static Click Timing
Static Click Timing can be broken down once more into precision or speed based. Precision involves small, hard to hit targets while speed based involves larger targets. In precision focused drills you’ll have to start off slow and build up your speed as your motor skills improve. This will allow you to maintain high accuracy whilst increasing your speed. In drill configurations that favour speed you’ll improve mouse control, instinctive awareness of your crosshair position and decision making skills.
Benefits of Static Click Timing:
- Great for new players to develop their skills in a predictable environment
- Increasing speed and accuracy when flicking to targets
- Can train any range of motion depending on your goals. I.e micro adjustments or wide angle flicks
- Great for elite players to flex their skills on super speed drills
Dynamic Click Timing
Dynamic Click Timing more closely resembles situations you’ll find in-game. These drills can be split into predictable and unpredictable movement patterns. Predictable movement trains you to read movement behaviour, accurately judge where the target will be and then make your shot when everything is aligned. With training you’ll be able to do that so quickly it’ll be as if the target was static. Unpredictable movement forces you to aim much quicker so you make the shot before the target even has a chance to turn. If it does dodge your shot, you will learn to instantly make a micro adjustment and take a second shot.
Benefits of Dynamic Click Timing:
- Replicate in-game movement patterns to practice running headshots
- Further increase speed and accuracy
- Understanding of target movement patterns and how that impacts aiming
